Syrups! Versatile and Their Benefit To Your Bottom Line

Posted on Thursday 24 January 2008

So many times when I was promoting and talking about my business people would say; I don’t drink coffee. People assumed I only served coffee. That is silly. Nothing in my business name said, coffee only. I would then educate them on all that my business had to offer. Funny how people have preconceived ideas on things they know nothing about. This is a great example of knowing your customers. In talking with people and asking the right questions; I found out what I needed to do to grow my business. Coffee: The Growth Trends

Posted on Wednesday 23 January 2008

It does not take a rocket scientist to notice the huge growth of coffee, coffee shops and everything having to do with coffee. Often timing is such an integral indicator of the success of  a business.  It would probably not be wise to be the perforated computer paper industry today.

Fortunately, there is such tremendous growth with the speciality coffee industry, that the margin for establishing a viable coffee business is generous.  The demand is a direct response to the customers demand for something better and for a quality experience. According to the Specialty Coffee Association of America ( SCAA) this industry will continue to grow and will not peak until 2015.

Growth Factors

  • High profit margins per drink.
  • Lower quality options with chains food stores.
  • Lower quality of standards with chain stores.
  • No options at diner type restaurants ( regular/decaf ).
  • Hard to replicate at an individual level.
  • Slow to improve change (upgrade) at the food service level.

With a premium coffee business you can offer coffees from many counties, different growing climates, different brewing methods and a variety of options of add in, including gourmet syrups. You can serve up specialty coffees in a cafe, bar, kiosk, cart, drive thru or a combination of these options.

Most people realize you are new and will be patient if you are slightly slower  with service at first, as long as their beverage is exactly how they like it. This is a point I stress with all my staff…

No matter what - make sure the customer leaves with their beverage just as they like it.
